At 6 months, babies are naturally curious about new tastes and textures. This is a great time to introduce them to a range of flavours, focusing on single-ingredient purées like vegetables, fruits, and gentle grains. Iron-rich foods are essential at this stage as babies’ iron stores from birth start to deplete. Aim for smooth, spoon-fed textures to ease them into solids while continuing with breastmilk or formula. Remember, it can take several tries for them to accept new flavour’s, so stay patient and keep reintroducing foods they initially reject.

SITTING UP

Your baby should be able to sit up, supporting their head and maintaining a sturdy, upright position

GOOD CO-ORDINATION

Your baby should be able to look at food, grab it and put it in their mouth and swallow.

CHEWING

Your baby should be able to make a chewing motion. They should be able to move food to the back of their mouth and swallow.
