At 1-3 years, toddlers are naturally curious but can also be wary of new foods. One way to reduce fussy eating is to introduce a new food alongside a familiar favourite. Repeated exposure is key—sometimes it takes 10-15 tries before they accept a new flavour. Keep mealtimes structured and avoid grazing between meals so they arrive hungry and ready to explore.

LIMITED FOOD CHOICES
Sticks to a small selection of favorites, usually processed over fresh, and rejects new or unfamiliar items.

TEXTURE SENSITIVITY
Avoids certain textures and may gag or eat slowly when trying new foods.

AVOIDANCE OF WHOLE FOOD GROUPS
Steers clear of entire food groups, like veggies or proteins.

MEALTIME BATTLES
Often refuses to eat what’s served, turning mealtime into a stressful event.
